In addition to being a partner of bdg, Kenton Blackwood is the Vice President of Blackwood Associates, Inc. (BAI) Architects and Planners. With BAI for more than 25 years, he directs the staff in the planning and design of facilities throughout West Virginia. He is experienced in site and building design, planning and evaluation, and construction observation. He has brought BAI and bdg to the forefront of technological architectural media with his knowledge of vector-based 3D computer modeling and CAD applications. His proficiency with "virtual reality" modeling allows bdg to use these technologies as a design tool.

3D architectural models and animations allow designers and clients to view a building from inside and out before ground is broken. These virtual tours quickly highlight important elements to key project personnel. Experiencing an interior space allows for the study of spatial relationships, lighting systems, different finishes, color selections, cabinetry and furniture arrangements. Visualization of a building's exterior provides a sense of mass, proportion, and color in relationship to it's environment. Design revisions may be made and studied further, possibly eliminating the need for costly revisions during construction.
