What is virtual reality?

Virtual Reality is an artificial, 3D environment. Just like the world we see around us, VR is made up of points that can be described by relative X, Y and Z co-ordinates. Two points make a line, three points make a plane, etc. Within a VR plane a polygon face is created. This polygon is arranged with other polygons, assigned color, textured, lighted and a VR environment is created. This environment can be as simple as a plain box. Or it can include millions of detailed elements that make up a complex, realistic world which we can "walk" through.
